Can you craft a vision, strategy and structure robust enough to withstand shifting market pressures in a recession-hit industry?
The UK division of a large Japanese manufacturing company was facing increased legislative pressures and market competition as well as being hit by reduced orders as a result of the recession. It wanted to cut costs in the short term without damaging business for the long term.
It had previously worked with TEN LTD on job evaluation, pay benchmarking and role clarity; this time the client asked TEN LTD to help implement a new structure for the organisation.
When TEN LTD set out to understand the company’s strategy and what it wanted to achieve, it discovered that the company itself was not clear about where it wanted to get to. Together we took a step back to determine a corporate vision and strategy; identify the customer base and what they needed; assess external competitive pressures; and establish what internal changes were needed in terms of leadership development, work processes, performance management and reward.
This has enabled the client to take a long-term view of strategic goals while maintaining short term priorities. The organisation now has a strong, clear focus for the future and is much better placed to handle the challenges it faces.
