How to make your strategy stick with just one slide

If you can't explain your strategy simply, don't expect others to follow it. A single, well-crafted slide can bring clarity, alignment, and impact - whether you're presenting to your team or to stakeholders. One slide. Big impact. Keep it simple, clear, and actionable. Here’s how to distil your vision into one powerful visual:

  1. Stick to three or four big ideas. Group your thinking into a small number of essential pillars. Simplicity breeds clarity - too many moving parts, and people lose the plot.
     
  2. Bring the strategy to life. Under each pillar, include real, operational examples. Show how the big ideas play out in practice. Strategy only works when people know how to act on it.
     
  3. Prioritise clarity over flash. Good design doesn’t mean fancy fonts and spinning arrows. Use clean layouts, purposeful colours, and minimal distractions. The goal is understanding, not decoration.
     
  4. Connect the dots. Use arrows or flows to show how things work together. A strong visual tells a story—and makes the logic of your strategy easy to follow.
     
  5. Go left to right. Our brains read like our eyes - horizontally. A left-to-right layout helps people process the flow of your strategy more naturally.
