Leadership Tip

How to improve your productivity

Productivity isn’t about doing more - it’s about doing what matters, well, and without burning out. Leaders who master this balance get better results, lower stress, and happier teams. Start with these five actions to take control of your day, boost focus, and keep your energy where it counts.

  1. Plan early. Spend 10 minutes each morning mapping out priorities, leaving 20% of your time free for surprises. This creates structure without suffocating flexibility.

  2. First things first. Tackle the task you dread most before distractions pile up. Momentum early makes the rest of the day easier.

  3. Use the Four Ds. Do it now, Defer for later, Delegate if possible, Delete if unnecessary. Ruthless filtering keeps you focused.

  4. Minimise distractions. Silence notifications, close unnecessary tabs, and, if needed, put your phone in another room during deep work.

  5. Manage energy. Plan your week with breaks, boundaries, and realistic workloads. Protect focus by matching demanding tasks to your peak energy hours.
