How to survive the festive break

Christmas isn’t a test of stamina or social compliance; it’s a leadership exercise in energy, boundaries and judgment. Those who navigate it best don’t try to do more, they choose more carefully. Managing yourself well over the festive break is often the difference between starting January depleted or starting it clear, calm and ready. Do these and arrive in the New Year steady, clear and ready.

  1. Lower expectations early. Fewer plans, fewer promises, fewer apologies.
     
  2. Protect daily quiet time. A walk, a book, a coffee [non-negotiable].
     
  3. Say no kindly. Over-commitment now becomes resentment later.
     
  4. Move a little every day. Energy follows motion, not intention.
     
  5. Close the year consciously. Note one win, one lesson, one thing to leave behind.
