How to think big

Most leaders know they should think strategically, yet few truly make the time. Daily demands, endless emails and reactive meetings can keep even the most capable minds stuck in the tactical. Big-picture thinking doesn’t just happen when you clear your diary, it happens when you clear your head. Here’s how to make it possible:

  1. Clear the deck. You can’t think big if you’re buried in the small stuff. Cancel unnecessary meetings, delegate admin, and make space for what matters.
     
  2. Give ideas time. Great thinking rarely arrives on command. Step away from the screen. Let thoughts brew, not boil.
     
  3. Connect the dots. Fresh thinking comes from pattern recognition. Read widely, talk to outsiders, and link ideas from unexpected places.
