How to give feedback to overly sensitive employees

How to give feedback to overly sensitive employees. Giving feedback to a colleague can be challenging, especially if they are sensitive or defensive. However, feedback is essential for improving performance, building trust, and fostering collaboration. How can you deliver feedback to a sensitive colleague in a way that is constructive, respectful, and effective? Here’s a three-part plan.

  1. Use positive reinforcement to tell them that they have the potential to perform better than their current level.
  2. Ensure the criticism is framed as a gap between their current level of performance and their potential level of performance.
  3. Identify a specific and controllable behaviour that they can do more or less of to achieve better performance.
