Leadership Tip

How to get through a difficult day

We all have days when we feel overwhelmed at work and when it seems like everything is going wrong. But we still have things that need to be done and taking a break is not an option. Here are some tips on how you can push through:

  1. Find a task that is familiar and not taxing. Often when we perform highly familiar tasks, it’s easy to become occupied with them and it just goes with the flow. Finishing a task in one go will also give you satisfaction.
  2. Take up a task that you have been avoiding, or something that is aspirational and creative. This can help boost your confidence.
  3. Undertake only half or two-thirds of the work you usually do as it will make you feel more productive and less overwhelmed.
  4. Seek support from the ones you trust. Often people you’re not very close with can help you overcome loneliness and stress.
  5. Instead of simply browsing the internet or drowning yourself in work, choose options that help you feel better and make it easier to bounce back faster.
