Leadership Tip

How to communicate like a great leader

The modern workplace increasingly requires greater creativity hence why being able to communicate your ideas effectively is vital. You can have a brilliant idea but if you are unable to convince others to believe in your vision, your influence and impact will suffer.

Communication is no longer considered a soft skill. Leaders who reach the top do not simply pay lip service to the importance of effective communication. Instead, they study the art in all its forms - writing, speaking, presenting — and constantly strive to improve on those skills. Here are some useful tactics:

  1. Use short words to talk about hard things
  2. Choose sticky metaphors to reinforce key concepts
  3. Humanise data to create value
  4. Make mission your mantra to align teams
