Burnout is a state of mental and physical exhaustion that can zap the joy out of your career, friendships, and family interactions. Anyone can become exhausted. What is so poignant about burnout is that it mainly strikes people who are highly committed to their work. Burnout, however, isn’t always easy to spot. With that in mind, here’s a how you can emerge from the debilitating feeling.
- Learn to say no: Never take up more work than you can complete at a given time. Segregate tasks, plan and schedule specific hours for each.
- Not working too late: Before you hit the sack, keep at least an hour to let your mind unwind.
- Take time off: Keep one day a week where you completely check out from work.
- Delegate work: Take the help of those in your team to accomplish lesser tasks like sending out invites or formatting your reports and presentations.
- Have fun: Don’t be guilty about an evening spent socialising or indulging a hobby as this helps refresh the brain to perform better.
