We make thousands of decisions each day, but not all of them lead to success. When we are overwhelmed by the number of decisions we face each day, it’s easy to make a poor one that leads to failure. The solution is simplifying our lives by reducing the number of decisions we make. We need to focus on doing a few things right to avoid doing too many things wrong. This means being absolutely clear on the smart choices we need to make every day. Here are five tips for making good choices are:
- Stop measuring your success by other people’s standards - don’t fall for the trap of evaluating your success by other people’s measures.
- Stay true to your values - it will be easier to see the path in front of you, if you base your decisions on your goals and where you see a situation going in the long-term.
- Manage your emotions – it is necessary to make sure you're acting with emotional intelligence if you want to become an effective make decision maker
- Don’t try to do it all yourself - delegating to others is an important part of what being a leader and manager is about.
- Work with a good mentor - ensure it is someone who can help you learn, grow, and advance.
