Every leader wants a team of dedicated employees. And yet, many fail to do their part to make this happen. Building a team that is both happy and engaged requires intentional effort. It’s not just about offering competitive salaries or generous perks. Here are two things you can do for your employees to earn their commitment:
-
Put their needs before yours. Treat them justly and do what's right for them and the organisation, not just what works for you personally. Give them opportunities to excel, and provide support if they fail. Be willing to take personal risks for the right employee. This will generate loyalty for years to come.
- Give them autonomy. Freedom can exponentially increase an employee's excitement. Make sure their passions align with the organisational direction, and give them some high-level boundaries, resources, and introductions to make it happen. Then remove obstacles and help them handle challenges. Most importantly, always give them credit for their success.
