Leadership Tip

How to be your own life coach

If you've ever considered enlisting the help of a life coach, this may be the time. Now, go stand in front of the mirror. Voila, it is you! With the festive holiday approaching - which can be difficult for many - and the spread of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, the ability to mentally coach yourself is particularly important now. Your mental wellbeing relies on self-determination, or what psychologists describe as the ability to show yourself compassion and to self-regulate. Here are some more tips on how to be your own life coach:

  1. Switch off the noise, such as apps, notifications, news, etc., and set boundaries.
  2. Start reflecting or take control of your time.
  3. It is the little things that matter, so find joy in simple, small stuff.
  4. Accept the good and bad feelings and remember, it is okay not to feel okay.
