The best way to get something finished is to start it in the first place. However, that’s often much easier said than done, particularly if it’s a task you really don’t want to tackle. Overcoming procrastination can feel impossible, even when you know it’s for your own good. Here is some advice for self-professed dawdlers, who wish to be less so:
- First of all, don’t call yourself a procrastinator.
- Make a start, however small - it could be as simple as opening an email.
- Break your task down into smaller, achievable parts.
- Ask your colleagues for help with your to-do list.
- Remember: putting something off doesn’t make it go away.
